Hokm+: The Ultimate Online Hokm Community for Android Devices
Introduction
Hokm is a trick-taking card game that originated in Iran and is popular in many Middle Eastern countries. The word "Hokm" means "command" or "order" in Persian, and refers to the trump suit that is chosen by one of the players in each round. Hokm can be played with 2, 3 or 4 players, but the most common version is for 4 players in two teams of two. The game is similar to Whist, Spades and Bridge, but has some unique features and rules that make it challenging and fun.

To play Hokm, you only need a standard 52-card deck and a way to keep score. You can use paper and pencil, coins, chips or any other method you prefer. The game is usually played counter-clockwise, but you can also play clockwise if you agree beforehand. The goal of the game is to be the first team to reach 7 points by winning tricks.
The Cards and the Deal
How to determine the Hakem and the partners
Before starting the game, one of the players shuffles the deck and deals one card face up to each player. The first player who receives an Ace becomes the Hakem for that round. The Hakem is the player who chooses the trump suit and leads the first trick. The dealing continues until another player receives an Ace. This player becomes the partner of the Hakem for that round. The other two players form the opposing team. If necessary, the players change their seats so that partners sit opposite each other.
The player who sits to the left of the Hakem becomes the dealer for that round. The dealer shuffles and cuts the deck before dealing the cards.
How to deal the cards
The dealer deals 13 cards to each player in batches of 5-4-4 or 5-3-3-2. The dealing begins with the Hakem and goes counter-clockwise (or clockwise if agreed). After receiving the first five cards, the Hakem must announce the trump suit for that round before their partner receives their cards. The other players are not allowed to look at their cards until the trump suit is announced.

How to choose the trump suit
The Hakem can choose any of the four suits as the trump suit for that round. The trump suit is also called "rang" or "color" in Persian. The trump suit has a special power: any card of that suit can beat any card of another suit, regardless of rank. For example, if spades are trumps, then a 2 of spades can beat an Ace of hearts.
The Hakem should choose a suit that they have many cards of, or that they have high-ranking cards of, or both. They should also consider what their partner might have, based on their position and their first card (if they received an Ace). Choosing a good trump suit can make a big difference in winning or losing a round.
The Play
How to play a trick
The Hakem leads any card they want to start the first trick. Each player in turn must follow suit if they can, meaning they must play a card of the same suit as the card led. If they cannot follow suit, they can play any card they want, including a trump card. The trick is won by the highest card of the suit led, unless a trump card is played, in which case the highest trump card wins. The winner of the trick takes the cards and leads the next trick. The play continues until all 13 tricks are played.
How to score a round
After all 13 tricks are played, the team that won more tricks scores one point for each trick over 6. For example, if the Hakem's team won 8 tricks and the opposing team won 5 tricks, then the Hakem's team scores 2 points (8 - 6 = 2). If both teams won 6 tricks, then no one scores and the round is a draw.
If the Hakem's team won all 13 tricks, then they score a bonus point and win the game immediately. This is called a "kap" or "slam" in Persian.
How to win the game
The game is played until one team reaches 7 points or more. The first team to do so wins the game. If both teams reach 7 points at the same time, then the game is a tie.
Tips and Strategies
How to bid wisely
Bidding is the process of choosing the trump suit as the Hakem. It is an important skill that can affect the outcome of the round. Here are some tips on how to bid wisely:
Choose a suit that you have many cards of, or that you have high-ranking cards of, or both. For example, if you have four or more cards of spades, including an Ace and a King, then spades might be a good choice for trump.
Consider what your partner might have, based on their position and their first card (if they received an Ace). For example, if your partner is sitting to your right and received an Ace of hearts, then hearts might be a good choice for trump, since they might have more cards of that suit.
Avoid choosing a suit that you have few or no cards of, or that you have low-ranking cards of. For example, if you have only one card of diamonds, and it is a 2, then diamonds might be a bad choice for trump, since you will have no control over that suit.
Avoid choosing a suit that your opponents might have many cards of, or that they have high-ranking cards of. For example, if you see that one of your opponents received an Ace of clubs, then clubs might be a bad choice for trump, since they might dominate that suit.
How to communicate with your partner
Communication is another important skill that can affect the outcome of the round. Communication means giving hints to your partner about what cards you have and what cards you want them to play. Here are some tips on how to communicate with your partner:
Use your first card as a signal. For example, if you are the Hakem's partner and you received an Ace of hearts, then playing it as your first card can signal to your partner that you have more cards of hearts and that you want them to play hearts if they can.
Use your high cards as signals. For example, if you are not the Hakem's partner and you have an Ace or a King of spades (the trump suit), then playing it as your first card can signal to your partner that you have more cards of spades and that you want them to support you with spades if they can.
Use your low cards as signals. For example, if you are not the Hakem's partner and you have a 2 or a 3 of clubs (a non-trump suit), then playing it as your first card can signal to your partner that you have few or no cards of clubs and that you want them to avoid playing clubs if they can.
Avoid giving false signals. For example, if you are not the Hakem's partner and you have only one card of diamonds (a non-trump suit), then playing it as your first card can signal to your partner that you have more cards of diamonds and that you want them to play diamonds if they can. This can mislead your partner and cause them to lose tricks.
How to use the trump suit effectively
The trump suit is the most powerful suit in Hokm. It can beat any other suit and help you win tricks. Here are some tips on how to use the trump suit effectively:
Save your trump cards for when they are needed. For example, if you are leading a trick and you have a high card of another suit, then play it instead of wasting a trump card. You might need it later to win a trick that your opponents are leading.
Use your trump cards to capture high cards of other suits. For example, if your opponent is leading a trick with an Ace of hearts, and you have no hearts, then play a trump card to win the trick. This way, you can prevent your opponent from scoring points and gain an advantage.
Use your trump cards to support your partner. For example, if your partner is leading a trick with a high card of another suit, and you have no cards of that suit, then play a trump card to help them win the trick. This way, you can increase your team's chances of scoring points and winning the round.
Avoid playing your trump cards when they are not needed. For example, if you are following a trick that your partner is leading with a high card of another suit, and you have a low card of that suit, then pl
